Vestry Committees

The vestry has nine standing committees. The standing committees and there functions are as follows:

  • Administration

    It is the duty of this committee to assure that the parish office is maintained in an orderly and businesslike manner, and that communication through the telephone, web site, e-mail and Sunday bulletin be conducted in a positive and timely manner.

  • Christian Education

    It is the duty of the Christian Education Committee to plan, supervise and coordinate all phases of the educational life of the congregation with the advice and consent of the rector. The Christian Education Committee sees that educational materials and literature are provided and assists the rector in setting up schedules and policies, and in selecting and training Christian education teachers.

  • Evangelism

    It is the duty of this committee to bring people into a saving relationship with our Lord, to endeavor to bring new members into the parish family and to encourage other members of the parish to do the same. This committee also provides the means to help newcomers and visitors feel at home in our midst, to help members of the congregation know one another better, and to deepen Christian fellowship among them.

  • Finance Committee

    The Finance Committee supervises and directs the financial affairs of the congregation, subject tothe authority of the vestry. This committee develops and presents an annual budget to the vestry. This committee also submits a written annual summary of parish finances to the congregation at the annual meeting and reviews the annual audit of the parish accounts.

  • Music

    It is the duty of this committee to see that the church is provided with liturgical music; to advise the vestry and rector concerning the employment of organists and choir directors; and to see that the organs and other instruments owned by the parish are properly maintained.

  • Outreach and Pastoral Care

    It is the duty of this committee to seek ways of extending the life, witness and Christian charity of the parish into the community, and to provide pastoral care for parish members.

  • Property

    It is the duty of the Property Committee to make periodic inspections of the church property; to make recommendations to the vestry for repairs and improvements; to direct and supervise such repairs and improvements as are authorized by the vestry; and to supervise such custodial help as the vestry will employ.

    The Parish Cemeteries Subcommittee, which is under the authority of the Property Committee chairman,includes members specifically responsible for each of the cemeteries, St. Thoması, St. Simonıs and Atonement. This subcommittee handles all matters pertaining to the parish cemetery properties according to the duties and procedures established by the subcommittee and as authorized by the vestry.

    The Buildings Subcommittee and the Grounds Subcommittee is also under the authority of the Property Committee chairman.

  • Stewardship

    The Stewardship Committee is responsible for actively encouraging Christian stewardship by the members of the congregation through the conduct of stewardship education, an Every Member Canvass and such other means as the Committee may deem advisable.

  • Youth Ministry

    It is the responsibility of the Youth Ministry Committee to establish and carry out active programs for parish youth that foster their spiritual growth in the church, encourages Christian ideals and values in their everyday life, and support in the family.
