Mission Statement

The Mission of St. Thomas' Episcopal Parish is to create a beloved spiritual community which welcomes all, embraces all, and includes all. Our community of faith exists by:

  • Reaching Up - Worship
  • Reaching Out - Outreach
  • Reaching In - Inclusiveness
We offer our gifts, not only to each other, but to the wider community, as a manifestation of our love for God and all His people. We honor our tradition and look forward to our future.

Vision Statement

St. Thomas' Episcopal Parish is comprised of St. Thomas' Church and the Chapel of the Incarnation. St. Thomas' Parish is steeped in the history and tradition of Southern Maryland with an outlook tied to our changing society and region. We as a Parish family, built on a solid foundation of volunteerism and family, exist to serve others and to promote peace and justice.

We seek to increase the Parish and its outreach to the community by providing a quality worship experience and by promoting stewardship that supports the Parish and our outreach. As our congregation reaches out to our diverse community and grows, we seek to prepare new Church lay readers for the future, yet maintain our closeness and informality.

Our vision will be to create an opportunity for growth by creating ministries that reach all aspects of our community. We are therefore committed to:

  1. Supporting the mission of St. Thomas' Parish and our spiritual leaders.
  2. Creating and strengthening programs that make the Church lay ministry a priority for the future.
  3. Providing a welcoming community that continues to invite and incorporate all persons into the life of the Parish.
  4. Advancing our children's knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ, through a variety of Christian Education programs and events that will further enhance the spiritual life for all.
  5. Expanding communications that invite and encourage participation in the fabric of Parish life.
  6. Renovating our facilities to meet the needs of our growing community and Parish.
  7. Increasing our Parish outreach.
  8. Initiating community events that bring the Parish and the broader community together.
  9. Maintaining strong partnership with our community in Southern Prince George's County.
  10. Expanding and deepening ministry of the Chapel of the Incarnation.
