Saint Thomas' Parish
St. Thomas' Episcopal Parish includes both St. Thomas' Church in Croom, Maryland and the Chapel of the Incarnation in Brandywine, Maryland. Our Parish, steeped in the history and traditions of Southern Maryland, has kept its atmosphere as a country church, such as the placing of tobacco flowers on the altar during August. Its proximity to the District of Columbia has brought many newcomers to the Parish. In this era of urban expansion, the Parish has not lost its charm, its friendliness, or its rural atmosphere.
Our congregation seeks to reach out to the broader community and grow by providing an inspiring worship experience, promoting stewardship, and Christian fellowship. Many parishioners have family roots here reaching back several generations, while others have recently moved into this area of southern Prince Georges County, Maryland. St. Thomas has historically been a diverse community. We continue to celebrate this extraordinary heritage. The Parish gathers together many different races of people with all races sharing the Parish leadership. The membership is drawn from many different traditions. In many ways, St. Thomas is a model for the church in its inclusive diversity. Parishioners are delighted about this successful diversity of lifestyles and look forward to increasing diversity in their future.
Our congregation seeks to spread, through word and deed, the good news of Jesus Christ that we have received. We help others in our community and the world to know love, and serve God in their daily lives and to show this love by personal example and outreach.
