| Episcopal Church Women (ECW) Every woman of the Episcopal Church is a member of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW). As in most families, the woman of the house usually brings everything together. She sees to everyone's comfort, makes sure everyone is well cared for, and in times of stress, she remains calm and accomplishes whatever is required. This is the same with the ECW. The women of St. Thomas' find themselves busy all year. Whenever an occasion calls for any kind of reception, our ladies are right there, planning, preparing and making sure it is successful. The ECW not only serve as hostesses for the parish, they also are involved in many other activities. They sponsor various parish events such as rummage sales, Shrove Tuesday suppers, luncheons for clergy, and luncheons for touring citizens from throughout the county. They provide assistance to families when sickness or death occurs. ECW delivers gift baskets to welcome new families to the community and home baked cookies to the elder and sick and shut in at Christmas. The women of ECW are responsible for the care and upkeep of the church hall. They keep it clean and ready for the many activities that occur in the hall. Many thanks are extended to those women who work so hard in their commitment to the parish. The ECW meets on the second Saturday of the month in the Parish Hall. If you are interested in participating in this very vital women's ministry, please contact Evelyn Downing by email or at the parish office, (301) 627-8469. |
